Living in a dorm room with little equipment many consider it impossible to bake pizza in dorm room. No doubt that we all love pizza, and this dorm room microwave pizza recipe is exactly what you may need. It’s easy to make, quick, and we are going to make it from scratch. If you have a microwave (grill) oven without convection, then you need to try this recipe. Also if your microwave don't have grill option I will share the method of baking pizza on microwave mode. Remember this is not a mug pizza but a complete from scratch microwave pizza recipe which is dorm friendly and easily customizable with toppings of your choice. This microwave vegetable pizza is a soft pizza but if you want your pizza slightly on a crisp side, apply a little bit of oil over both sides of rolled pizza base and then add toppings and cheese on it. After baking the pizza will be slightly crispy.

  1. In a small bowl add water and sugar, dissolve the sugar really well.

  2. Then add yeast in this water, give a mix and keep aside for 10 minutes. This will help the yeast to bloom.

  3. In another wide mixing bowl add all purpose flour, milk powder (it is a tenderizer if you don't want to use it you may skip it) and salt in it and mix well.

  4. Add yeast water that we made earlier, knead it into a soft dough. Now its up to you if you feel you require more water you may add it gradually or if you require more flour add it as well. Just remember we need a soft dough not stiff one.

  5. Add cooking oil in the kneaded dough, knead the dough for 5-6 minutes. Feel free to add more water or oil if required. The dough will develop gluten due to kneading and this will help to make pizza soft and airy.

  6. Grease the bowl with little oil and roll the dough in this oil to grease it well all around so that crust may not form on top.

  7. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes. 

  8. After the time you will see the dough is doubled in size, punch it to remove the excess air, knead for another 1 minute.

  9. Divide the dough in 2 equal parts, gently roll it into a pizza base, sprinkle some all purpose flour if required for rolling pizza easily. Roll the pizza into a diameter of 8 inches. 

  10. Prick some holes in the dough so it may not puff up in the microwave. 

  11. Place the dough over the grill stand of your microwave (if your microwave has the grill mode), spread the ketchup or pizza sauce over it.

  12. Add shredded cheese on it, then add toppings of your choice.  

  13. Place the pizza in the microwave, press the combination of grill and microwave button and cook for about 6 minutes. I used 800 watts microwave here. Timing may vary with different microwaves depending on wattage.

  14. If your microwave don't have grill mode, place a parchment paper in a microwave safe plate, lay the prepared pizza over it, microwave for 4 minutes. 

  15. Dorm room microwave pizza is ready, sprinkle some oregano and chili flakes, enjoy.
