Do you love granola? Me too! So here I am sharing with you easy recipe of healthy homemade granola. Granola provides protein and important micronutrients like iron, vitamin D, folate, and zinc depending on the size of serving. If you’re anything like me, you’ve spent hours in the granola aisle at the grocery store, trying to find just the right kind. You know the one, it has lots of fun mix-ins like nuts and dried fruit, it’s sweet, but not too sweet, it’s spiced with cinnamon, and it’s filled with big clusters of oats and nuts. And if you’re anything like me, you have come to realize that it’s nearly impossible to find the perfect granola at the store. Most store-bought granola is high in sugar, contains unhealthy saturated fats and oils, and is packed full of fillers and unnecessary ingredients.
Whipping up this healthy homemade granola recipe is super quick. It will took you almost 25 minutes to prepare it. This granola recipe allows you to control the amount of sweetness and quality of ingredients while also changing things up and adding in the flavors you love.
It’s cheaper to make your own granola if you choose to make it more than once. It may be slightly costly to buy all of the ingredients in bulk, but homemade granola is very affordable in the long run. Once you try homemade granola, you won’t go back to store-bought granola. It’s so much better.
In a pan add rolled oats and dry roast these over low flame. Toss this for a while or till they became crunchy and change their color slightly. Take out.
In the same pan add cashews, puffed rice, almonds, walnuts, pistachio, flex seeds, pumpkin seeds, melon seeds, sesame seeds, chia seeds and roast these over low flame as well. You may use whole nuts but I cut these in small pieces.
Roast these over low flame till they became aromatic as well as slightly change their color.
Now in another pan add ghee and heat it over low flame.
Add jaggery powder and let it completely melt in the ghee.
Then add water and mix it well.
When you see its completely dissolved and turns foamy add cinnamon powder and coconut powder in it. Mix well and take the pan away from flame.
In a big wok or pot add all the roasted nuts, oats, puffed rice and pour the prepared sweet mixture over these. Combine everything well.
Roast everything again on low flame for some more time until everything is well combined and dried out. I toasted my granola for about 7 minutes and the mixture is nicely toasted and dried out.
Homemade granola is ready, transfer to a big bowl and let it cool down before adding other ingredients.
Add golden raisins, black raisins, dried cranberries, mix well.
Store in any airtight container, it stays good at the room temperature for almost 3-4 weeks and more in the fridge.
Tips: If you want to use more simple method, mix all the dry and wet ingredients first and then bake these in the oven over 120-140 ℃ for about 20-25 minutes. Toss it after every 10 minutes and bake till everything is crunchy and dried. You don't need to pre-heat the oven for this.
