Finger fish or fish fingers, whatever you may call it, this is a popular non vegetarian starter recipe that is considered as kids special recipe. Crunchy texture from outside and soft inside, finger fish is a popular appetizer and is best enjoyed with tomato ketchup or mayonnaise. Finger fish is generally made with boneless fish like Basa or Kingfish. Fish fingers is easy to cook and can be prepared in under 30 minutes. For those who enjoy eating seafood, this a dish for them that can be made in no time. The recipe that I am sharing here of finger fish for kids is a tried and tested one and your kids will love it whether you give it for lunch, for dinner or as a snack.
Start by washing boneless fish fillet, if you are using frozen fish fillets, make sure to thaw them.
Once washed wipe them with kitchen towel.
Cut the fillets into batons (fingers) using a sharp kitchen knife following the natural lines of the fillet. The strips should be about 1/2 inch wide and 2 inch long approximately.
Transfer the fingers to a mixing bowl and add vinegar and turmeric in it. Leave the fingers for 15 minutes.
Then wash the fingers again and put in a strainer so that they become dry.
Now prepare the coating for fish. Beat the eggs in a mixing bowl.
Take flour in another bowl and in third bowl add bread crumbs.
Mix salt, black pepper powder, oregano and lemon zest in bread crumbs and set aside.
Now one by take fish fingers and coat first with flour,, then dip in beaten eggs and lastly coat with bread crumbs.
Repeat the same process with all fingers, put them in the freezer for 15 minutes.
Over medium low flame heat the cooking oil in a pan or wok.
Fry the fish fingers in this oil till they are golden brown. Keep flipping them once in a while using slotted spoon.
Once fingers are brown and crispy drain them on a plate lined with paper towel.
Kids special finger fish is ready, serve hot with dipping sauce.
