In any gathering of family and friends, the 'one' thing that make the occasion special is food, glorious food. Biryani is a popular recipe prepared on special occasions in Pakistan. It depends on the type of biryani you are having, but yes generally biryani is considered spicier. This beef biryani is the perfect way to celebrate any occasion because of its unique flavors. This restaurant style beef biryani is a dish of beef masala and basmati rice that comes together to make a delicious biryani. The masala (cooked gravy) is just the right amount of spice, and it pairs perfectly with the rice to make the most memorable lip-smacking treat you've had in a while. Since we are using beef in this recipe, I like to make beef masala in a pressure cooker because it is quick and easy. However, if you don't have a pressure cooker, the beef masala can be cooked on the stove until the meat is cooked. The taste of this beef biryani is extraordinary, much better than chicken biryani or restaurant beef biryani. Directions

  1. In a pressure cooker add beef, water, turmeric, sliced onion, salt, ginger garlic paste, lemon juice and mix well.

  2. Let the water come to boil, then cover the pressure cooker and cook the beef on medium flame for 20 minutes or till beef gets tender. 

  3. Uncover the pressure cooker and turn the flame to high so that water could dry out, set it aside.

  4. In a mixing bowl take yogurt, add biryani masala in it, mix well and keep aside.

  5. In a pot add cooking oil along with cinnamon stick, black cardamom, green cardamom, cloves, star anise, bay leaves, cumin seeds, black pepper corns and mix well.

  6. Add chopped tomatoes and cook for 1 minute.

  7. Then add red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, crushed black pepper, dried plums and mix well. Cook for another minute.

  8. Add cooked beef in this masala and mix well.

  9. Add chopped fresh coriander and mint leaves, green chilies and mix well.

  10. Cook the beef over medium flame for 8-10 minutes or till oil separates.

  11. Turn the flame to low and add spiced yogurt now in the beef, mix well.

  12. Add chopped coriander and mint leaves, fried onion and layer of boiled rice.

  13. In a bowl of water mix kewra water and orange food color, spread over the layer of boiled rice along with some fried onion. 

  14. Cover the pot and steam cook on low flame for 18-20 minutes.

  15. Pakistani style beef biryani is ready to serve.
