Elaichi ka sharbat or green cardamom drink is one of the refreshing drinks to overcome the heat of summer. Elaichi sharbat will not only beat the frequent thirst but it is also good for digestive system. Cardamom is a well-known spice that has long been a staple in Middle Eastern and Asian cuisine. Not only cardamom is used in summer but in subcontinent of India and Pakistan it is also used in winters in the tea to ward off cough and cold. Green cardamom may lower the blood pressure, improve breathing and aid weight loss.

Today I am sharing recipe of make and store elaichi ka sharbat to beat the heat of the day during Ramadan. The recipe is so easy, delicious and cheap from store bought drink that you will surely retry it in the future.

  1. In 2 glass of water add green cardamoms and soak these overnight.

  2. Put a pan on medium flame and add the soaked cardamoms along with water in which the cardamoms were soaked in the pan.

  3. Cover the pan and let the water boil. When the boil starts is water cook the cardamoms in it for 5 minutes.

  4. After 5 minutes turn off the flame and let the water come to the room temperature.

  5. Add this mixture in the grinder and grind the cardamoms well. You can do this process in pastel and mortar as well.Do not make a fine paste at this stage as some other steps are left ahead.

  6. Strain the mixture with a muslin cloth.

  7. Now put the strained water aside and add the cardamom pulp again in the pan. 

  8. Add 2 glass of more water in the cardamom pulp, cover the pan and let the water boil on medium flame. We will repeat the same process here and after the water starts to boil we will give 5 minutes to cook the cardamoms.

  9. After 5 minutes turn off the flame and let the water come to the room temperature.

  10. Again repeat the same process of grinding but this time grind cardamoms into fine paste.

  11. Strain the water for 2-3 times so that water should be clean, now the cardamom water is ready for next step.

  12. Pour 2 glass of water in he same pan along with sugar. When the sugar completely melts, let it become thick so cook for 5 minutes more.

  13. Add lemon juice in the syrup and mix it.This will stop crystallization in the drink.

  14. Heat the cardamom water on the other side, gradually add it in the sugar syrup while stirring continuously.

  15. Cook it for 5-7 minutes more and then add food color in it.

  16. Cook it for 2-3 minutes and then turn off the flame. Let it come to the room temperature.

  17. Store in any air tight container/bottle for further use.
