With high concentration of vitamins, minerals and anti oxidants anjeer ka halwa has numerous health benefits. Anjeer or figs has natural sweetness in it and is very healthy and nutritious. It lowers blood pressure, controls diabetes, and strengthen bones. Also the antioxidant properties present in figs are great for not only skin but also for hairs. So today I am going to share a very healthy sweet recipe made with dried figs which is anjeer ka halwa or dried figs dessert.
Anjeer halwa or anjeer barfi is a very quick and healthy recipe that can be prepared easily even by biggners. The benefits are even increased due to addition of gond (edible gum) in this halwa. In the season of winters when we require something healthy and warm to eat this winter special anjeer halwa or barfi is a perfect recipe. Do give it a try this winter and share your feedback with me.
In a wok add milk and let it heat on medium flame.
When the milk is heated but still not boiled add chopped figs (anjeer) and edible gum (gond) in it. Give a mix and let the milk boil.
After the boil you will notice that milk is curdled. Do not worry as this curdled milk will help to form grainy texture in halwa.
Let the milk cook for few minutes and then add liquid glucose and sugar in this mixture.
Again let the halwa cook on medium flame for about 30-40 minutes or till the milk is almost dried from halwa.
Add egg and quickly mix to evenly combine it in the halwa.
Let the halwa cook again till the milk completely dry.
Now add desi ghee in the halwa and fry it. You may add 1 tablespoon more of desi ghee if required. Cook the halwa for 2-3 minutes or till it leave the sides of pan.
Anjeer halwa (dried figs dessert) is ready to enjoy.
__________ Tips: I take out halwa as soon as it started to leave the pan but if you want a solid shape of this halwa you may cook more. Let the halwa completely cool down and then cut as desired.
