Invented almost 70 years ago, the microwave oven has become a kitchen staple; helping us cook tasty, simple and quick meals whenever we need it. It is a helpful kitchen appliance and for some people, for example, college students and urbanites living in small apartments, it's the main technique for warming and preparing food. The cooking here in Pakistan & India requires a lot of time, work and uses so many spices to give a better taste and aroma to our food. Because of this most of us believes that cooking in microwave is not suitable to our food. But here I am sharing a wonderful simple chicken pulao recipe that will save your time, effort and no one would believe that it is cooked in microwave. I have already shared some microwave cooking recipes bit this is a recipe of its own level. The method of making this dorm friendly, quick microwave chicken pulao is very simple. It only takes 15 minutes to be fully prepared and you may even call it 15 minutes microwave chicken pulao recipe. It is a gift for students, hostalites or any one who don't want to spend too much time on cooking. Do give it a try and share your feed back.

  1. Take a big deep microwave safe bowl.

  2. Drain the water from rice and in the cooking bowl along with chicken, onion, green chilies,black pepper, bay leave and salt.

  3. Pour in the water and cover the bowl with cling film. You can even cover with a glass or microwave safe plate.

    Poke few holes in the film for steam.

  4. Put the bowl in the microwave and on high power give the time of 8 minutes.

  5. After the time take the bowl out of microwave, uncover it and give it a mix.

  6. Now to this add 3-4 tablespoon of oil and again mix.

  7. Cover the bowl and put it in the microwave again for 7 minutes.

  8. After 7 minutes check again the pulao, if the rice are not done or some water left in rice cook it again for another 3-4 minutes.

  9. When the timer is done and rice are cooked, let them rest in the microwave for 5 minutes so that if any moisture is left in rice it should dried.

  10. Take out the bowl and dish out the rice. Quick and simple microwave chicken pulao is ready.

    You can garnish these with chopped coriander/ mint leaves/ green chilies .

  11. Serve and enjoy.
